How can I get a full config file that has all config choices listed, set
for the defaults, to make the config file editable?

Yeah, I know it says not to edit it. But that is becoming the only real
practical way when trying to make sure different configurations for
different architectures and/or versions are matched.

What config file? There is no one config file for the setup of
networking facilities on Linux.
Do you mean the Linux /kernel compile/ config file, perhaps?

Hmmm. Somehow this went to the wrong group. I haven't even been in the
networking group for a few days, so I don't know how. OTOH, my newsreader
hasn't been restarted since then. Who knows.

Looks like a "one off" bug in my newsreader after moving groups in the list.
So I restarted it and lost all unread articles. I guess I need to restart
it more often rather than let it run for weeks at a time.
