Because Ethernet grinds to a halt if you get more than the occasional
collision?

That's why my mate was getting >14.4k modem speeds on his PC->PC network
(3Com 10/100mbit NICs) with a cheap and tacky "Tekhal" network cable. Me
and him were cursing for HOURS over it, even though it was configured
correctly it was acting like it was totally b0rked! And when I say 14.4k
modem speeds, I'm _not_ exaggerating.
