What is the general opinion of best make of wireless router?

Hi,

im after a wireless router, i want the fast 54 speed,

I am looking at the DLink and the Linksys one - the Linksys one is quite a
bit more expensive

What manufacture would you guys recomend? i want something reliable (ive
heard some of them crash / drop connecitons), and something which can be
upgraded to the full 802.11g spec when it comes out

Orinoco is reputed to have best radio / range etc. but their AP's aren't
cheap.
Next best is probably Draytek Vigor, the 54g version should be out any day
now.
(Note the 54Mb/s is only between your computers, 11Mb/s far faster then
0.5Mb ADSL connection anyway.)
There isn't much to choose between the rest, but stay away from Netgear.

I am very happy with the Belkin 54G. It was very easy to set up, range is
fine, and no problems whatsoever.

Hi Martin,
What is the problem with Netgear, say an MR814v2? So far, the range is
about the same or a little better than the Belkin 54G, both were very easy
to set up, and the MR814V2 seems to have some nice logging capabilities. I
say seems, because so far the logs just tell me what sites I visited or
tried to visit (in the case of blocked sites).

I bought DM602 and DG614, the software wouldn't load and then didn't unload,
the hardware didn't work at all,
support (in India !) was useless. Wasted 3 days. Read the posts here, lots
of people having trouble with firmware updates.Returned it.
Bought Draytek Vigor, on line in 10 mins and haven't missed a beat since
May.
