Hi Gareth,

Yes, it has a connect/disconnect feature on the task bar, and if I close
down without disconnecting the PC hangs again.

Do you think it is worth e-mailing BT?

Cheers,

Cath

Not really. All they will tell you is to disconnect before you close down.
If that's the way they have built the software then I guess that is how your
going to have to use it. Other than that a router would correct the problem.

Hi Cath,
Can I give you a bit of advice about posting to Newsgroups?
The usual practice is append your posting to a relevant recent thread,
especially if you started it yourself earlier the same day!

Just highlight the first item in the thread and click 'Reply Group'
(assuming you are using OE)
Sometimes it is more appropriate to reply to a branch of the thread if that
branch gets side-tracked to a topic that you want to contribute to.

When you type your reply put it below the existing text (or you will be
labelled a Top Poster)
It is OK to trim the post you are replying to, if it is long or not relevant
to your reply.

Finally if that Hotmail addy is genuine, either replace it with a dummy one
or at least 'encrypt' it with a word or two that a human will know to
remove. This is because spammers harvest email addresses off the Usenet.

ending it .invalid would make sure, else someone else will have to
get the junk mail from the day they register doesnotexist.com (for
some rock band or whomever :-) Of course, now you've posted there
is likely some spammer's software adding it as I type :-(
