FTTC - confused !

Hello

Using

http://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home..._pot_exchs.pdf

I see that my exhange gets FTTC in September 2011.

Using

https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html

I get

"Your cabinet is planned to have WBC FTTC by 31st March 2012. Our test
also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology
with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received
downstream line speed of 32.7Mbps and upstream line speed of 6.6Mbps."

Does this mean I can get 32.7Mbps now? Or in September 2011 or in
March 2012?!

Cheers

Geoff

I'd interpret that as March 2012 (probably slipping to e.g August 2012).

The current answer is 'Some time in March 2012'.

The process is approximately:
FTTC support equipment goes in the exchange - due to be done by the
end of Sept 2011

individual street cabinets are upgraded to FTTC - yours is due to
be done by the end of March 2011

At least your cabinet is on the list!

Checking my number in TW2 I get:

"Your cabinet is planned to have WBC FTTC by 31st March 2012. Our test
also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with
an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream
line speed of 33.9Mbps and upstream line speed of 8.6Mbps."

which is nice!

Guy,

A typo? You mean March 2012?

Cheers

You're lucky!

My exchange is on this list and allegedly is coming in June '11:
http://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home...oming_soon.pdf

However, the BT wholesale site makes no mention of it. Samknows doesn't
either...

So, should I get my hopes up or not?

BT are set up to cause confusion.
Do not worry.

My exchange is 21CN and I just used the checker says I will get 6 Mb, I'm
getting 13 Mb.
As regards the list of exchanges getting fiber mine is not on.
Regards
David

A friend of mine is on FTTC - and is getting 22MB down, 7 up. She's 330 feet from
the cab, so not as good as they claim.

Still perfectly happy with it, mind...

And do you know for sure that the cable route runs exactly the way that you
measured the 330 feet?

I am not connected to my nearest cabinet, but the second nearest. They
are much further away and I am getting much better speeds than she is.

The cab is outside the block of flats... so I'm guessing the line coming from it,
into the block, and the straight run up to her flat is the shortest run...
