ftp throug firewall problem

I have the folowing situation:

ftp with konqueror works (can see the files)
ftp from shell does not work (proxy set with gate ....)

Help would be appreciated!

That's not much information. Quick guess: Enable passive
FTP in your client. If you have a Linux based packet filter
with connection tracking you can also load the ip_conntrack_ftp
module (however this might need some tweaking of your rule set).
