Exchange 2003 connection problem

I want to know what the best scenario is for my ftp problem.
i have a ftp server that gets quit a load,and this will be more in the near
future,
I want to install another ftp server for load balancing , what is the best
scenario .
the servers are in the perimiter and windows 2003 server standaard edition
is running.
My intranet is windows 2000 active directory domain, DC running windows 2000
advanced server.
firewall to the internet is a cisco pix.
all the comments are very welcome

What size of load are you talking about? What's are your connections to the
internet? What type of files are being uploaded (large/small)? What is your
switching infrastructure? What is your FTP server (native FTP or 3rd party
app)?

the load is about 450 clients from the internet that send every day and night
about 400Mb over ftp per client.
where talking about native ftp, cisco pix is the only device that serperates
the clients from the internet from the ftp server the files go the produktion
enviroment
