Hi all.

I am running mandrake 9.1 with shorewall 1.4.6c, and my problem is that
every time I try and do an ftp download it runs fine until the last 2kb,
and then hangs. I am on BtOpenworld plugged into an ethernet adsl router.
THis is from my firewall and from clients.

Has anybody come across this before ?

Does this happen:

* when you use different servers on different parts of the internet?

* when you use different client software?

* when you use a different client operating system?

* when you take down the firewall entirely?

* and put NAT rules back if they apply.

If I had to take a wild guess, I'd suggest that maybe the firewall
was timing out the control channel while the data transfer was in
progress. That would mean that the data transfer really did complete,
but was not reported as such.
