You can do like me and buy a Linksys router to replace that piece of crap.

Wal-Mart has Linksys 4 port routers for about $49 and wireless (b & g) for
about $59.

My stupid MN-500 will restart itself (i.e. reboot) every time I try and
connect to a page displaying MSN videos. How crazy is that?

Microsoft tech support doesn;t have an answer, and I don't have time for
crazy crap like that.

Goodbye Microsoft......Hello Linksys....

Desperate enough to sell it to me for $20?

BTW: Linksys isn't exactly a step up as they have security problems...

If you do want to go with a different system, the $20 offer is legitimate.

Just be careful of Netgear.

In the interest of full disclosure, the author of the article about Linksys
security problems infers that NetGear any be a more stable solution. I
disagree.....

Linksys is definitely not perfect, (If you find a router that is please post
it here - I'd like to get one.)

I don't mean to endorse any particular brand. Each user must determine
their own needs and look at the available products out there and compare
security, features and price. Currently, my needs are met by the Microsoft
wireless products, however, in the future they may not be.

This router has two different port forwarding schemes. One
is application port forwarding, the other is persistent
port forwarding. Be sure to use the ports for persistent
fowarding. This router also forces you to set TCP and UDP
independently. If you are unsure of which to activate then
do them both for the required ports.

Also, if you are using service pack 2 make sure that the
built in firewall is allowing access through the required
ports. Good luck!
