Frequent Disconnects Windows XP

I currently have the following setup:
-TRENDnet TEW-223PI Wireless PCI Adapter
-Network Everywhere NWR04B Wireless Cable/DSL Router
-Windows XP SP1 Professional

The adapter connects to the router and goes online and then disconnects and
reconnects about every five seconds. I have the computer right next to the
wireless router for testing, so I doubt that it is a bad signal.

Please help!

Thank you,
E.

Disable the "Wireless Zero Config" in XP, and run the setup with the
software supplied from the supplier, that worked on my WLAN based on Netgear
components.

If you have the XP built-in firewall turned on, then turn it off.
