Hi,

Does anyone know anthing about Freeswan 2.06.

I'm new to Linux and want to set up a VPN between a Linux (Red Hat 9) server
and a WindowsXP laptop through a router. I have downloaded and installed
the Freeswan RPM's, but am a bit stuck as to what to do now. I know that
IPSEc is running on the server, but don't really know how to configure
Freeswan to allow a connection. i have downloaded some documentation, but
it is all very specific and complex. Can anyone explain in simple terms, or
point me to a dummies guide for how to do this?

Thanks for any help.

T.

I never could get the hang of FreeSWAN. Does it have to be this specific
VPN implementation, or can you consider alternatives? OpenVPN works very
well for me (Windows, GNU/Linux, Mac, ...) and it's easy to set up.

Chris

Thanks very much for this. No I don't have to use Freeswan, b ut it looked
to be the best supported. I've downloaded OpenVPN as well, is this simple
to use, and is it well documented do you know?

Thanks for the help.

Travis

As far as I'm concerned it was easy to setup once I'd read the
documentation a couple of times. I strongly suggest that you start with
the simple examples and get them to work. Then move on to as complicated
an example as you need for your situation.

If it would help, email me direct and I'll send you my (UK) contact
details so we can talk this through.
