Have 'phone with TT they rang today trying to get me to change tariff, but I
did not want to, told them my Anytime tariff was what I wanted.
They then offered me free BB.
Said I would get 7Mb download as I do now with O2. Well as I'm with Be I
told them not with O2 and was getting 13Mb and did not want speed to halve
even if free. ( Yes I'm aware O2 own Be.) They said it was impossible
that I can get anymore than 7Mb on my line from anyone and I was mistaken.
( O2 do offer up to 20Mb and Be offer up to 24Mb, which is strange.)

Regards
David

Clearly TalkTalk are idiots, as has been discussed before here. You get
what you pay for...

I'd keep a eye on your post if i was you incase you get a letter from BT
saying that you are transferring your line over to TT. It's known as
"Slamming"
http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consumeradvi...ivacy/slamming
"an extreme form of mis-selling, where customers are simply switched from
one company to another without their express knowledge and consent"

Obviously "the customer is always right" isn't something they've heard
of at Talktalk. Perhaps next time they ring up and tell you you're lying
to them, you can let them know they could sign up as a Be reseller and
offer faster broadband to their other customers.

It's not strange, it's ADSL2+!

The reason I said strange is surely they will be using same equipment, or do
you think they have 2 lots in the exchange?

Sorry, misread you. No, I can't see why they'd have two sets of kit in
the exchange [as Be and O2 are owned by the same company]. OTOH, can't
see why they'd offer less than the maximum either. Presumably some
marketing genius at O2 has decided 20Mb is a better "proposition" than
24Mb. Or maybe they've figured that offering slightly less than the
maximum will deter speed freaks and bandwidth hogs.

I think David means TT and O2. ADSL2+ is only supplied by LLU and a few
BT exchanges. So, yes they will be using two lots of equipment.

No I expect TT and O2/Be to be different equipment, but did not expect 02
and Be to have separate to each other.
But the fact O2 offers up to 20Mb and Be up to 24Mb suggests some how they
are different.
If just because the Publicity Dept (s) decided to be different surely Be
will attract more sign ups from those hungry for speed.

On my personal plans I had intended later in the year when my 12 months with
TT 'phone is up to change both BB and 'phone to the upcoming BB/phone with
O2 and risk a slight drop of speed if in fact it occurred.
Of course would stay with Be if they offer BB and phone package too.

TT think I'm with O2, I told them I'm not, but did not tell them who. So
I'm wondering if they are trying to stop migration of their customers to O2.

Now I know TT customer service is extremely poor and Be are first rate, so
really would take a lot for me to move BB to TT. Can't really see them
being competitive with half speed LLU BB though even if free.
Regards
David

You are right on the first, not so on the second. Sky have possibly the
fastest and most reliable llu network in the country and they are amongst
the cheapest, whenever i speed test a Sky connection, i pretty much get 95%
speed reported as the exchange speed, talk talk seems to range between 5%
and 40%, BT themselves rarely hit above 50%.
