Since you're using a modem/router, it should be able to perform NAT.
Just get yourself a small switch (they're very cheap these days). Less
hassle that way.

Otherwise, ONE needs to act as a router, forwarding IP packets. If the
modem/router is doing NAT, then that should be all that is required for
ONE. On the ROUTER, you would need to add a static route entry for the
network of TWO, via ONE.

If you don't understand that, just get yourself a hub.

That doesn't matter. So long as you remember that if forwarding between
public and private addresses, you need to use NAT.

Don't do this at work until you have a solid understanding of iptables
and networking.

Hi all, here 's is the senario.

I got my self an ADSL connection for my home.
I have tow PCs running:
Machine one: FEDORA LINUX 1
Machine tow: SUSE 8.2 & WINDOWS XP
I 'm using a modem/router for my connection.

My first machine have 2 network cards. The second machine Just one.
I attached my first machine with my router (eth1) an with a crosswire
to my second machine (eth0).
None of my machines got any real IP (the modem/router does).
I can ping the routers IP's (fake and real) from my first machine
(ping 192.168.1.1 works fine).
I can't route directly my second machine but I can ping it from the
eth0 using th "-I" parameter of ping
(ping -I eth0 192.168.1.3 works fine).
The first machine have the IP 192.168.1.2
The question is:
Can I have Internet to both machines without using a hub?
Is is possible (considering that the first machine have internet
access) to forward pakages to the second machine too? I other words
may I use the first machine as a router?
I 'm suspecting that it could be possible with some itables lines but
I 'm not sure because none of the machines have the real IP address.
If it could work then I could use the idea to my work (60 PCs) where I
could use a PC with double ethernet cards to do all the firewall
work.

Hoping in good news
