Forgot logon password -- what do I do now

I forgot my logon password.
I know where it is in the windows directory but can't view
it. It is in a *.pwl file.

Can you help me, please?

Rename the <usename>.PWL file (replace <username> with your login name) to
<username>.BAK and reboot. You can now select a new logon password.
