Forest membership question

I have a domain

abc.com

with a number of servers and workstations at my office and at a branch
office I have

branchoffice.abc.com

But not installed as a forest member, is the fact that they both belong to
the same domain (sads.com) and that I have set up a trust between them
enough to make the branch and the office part of the same forest or is there
more to it than that?

If there is more (and I suspect that there is) can the domain rename
functionality be used to make the branch a member of the head office forest?

Or is my only recourse to reinstall AD branch office whilst connected to the
head office network.

I want to use DFS across this link ...

many thanks all,

jON

I think you have to reinstall AD -- there is accurate information in the
Help about how to create a child domain, and if you follow it things will
work correctly.

There are also a lot of great resources here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...tory/activedir
ectory/default.mspx

Many thanks,
