I have both B and G access points on my campus. I have a
computer with a MN-710 that keeps connecting to the G
access point two rooms down, but will not connect to the
B that is in the same room.
The MN-710 keeps getting a very low to good signal
(anywhere between 2.0MB to 24MB, but usually always less
than 6MB). I don't understand why it will not connect to
the B access point that is about 15 ft away (which would
give it a much better and reliable signal).

Both APs use the same SSID (but different channels). Is
it possible to force the MN-710 to use 802.11B only and
therefore make it connect to the closer AP?

The only way to really force it is to use different SSIDs for the two APs
and configure the MN-710 to only look for the one you want it to use.
