Presumably he found a German group more to his liking.
He may have changed his username, been posting using X-NoArchive (I
didn't see any references in Google Groups), or simply stopped posting
to usenet.
I kill filed based on message id since we were getting a number of
German (which I know very little of) and Italian (which I know much less
of) posts at the time.
If you know the username that he used you might try Google Groups
Advanced Search.
Not necessarily a "Foolish Question" but one that might not yield
results.
