What ports need to be open to enable folder view of FTP sites with Use passive
FTP?

I believe my hardware router is preventing this functionality.

When I use IE to visit any FTP site, like FTP://ftp.microsoft.com/Reskit/
I get an FTP Folder Error
An error occured opening that folder on the FTP Server. Make sure you have
permissions to access that folder.
Details:
The operation timed out.

The above happens on every computer on my network, even when I turn off the NAT
basic firewall, and when I disable my Anti-Virus, so I am pretty sure it is the
hardware firewall.

When I take my laptop off network and connect cellularly, it works fine.

Hi Jerold!

Usually don't see you asking questions in here. :-)

Firmware update is needed on the router possibly. Is it a NetGear? My
newsgroup observations are that NetGear has a known issue with this.

Is is a NetOpia, branded Covad, for my T1 line.

I will check out this possibility.

Thank you.
