Folder Share Q

I know this is maybe stupid question but i can`t find a solution to it.
I shared a folder on a file server at work and added some of my colegues
that needed the access to it, and they can`t access it with an error that
folder is not accessible you might not have premission to access ... contact
the administrator.... It won`t ask anyone for username and pass to
authenticate even if i entered users in a permissions.
Clients are in workgroup and the server is in a domain.
is there a workaround to this problem or the solution is so obvious that i
cant see it.

Also make sure you have assigned permission in the Security tab.
