First of all, I use Linux, so any Windows-based help will
not be useful. I wanted to get that out there off the bat
because the MS website only seems to offer support in terms
of automatic update utilities.

I would like to update the firmware on my MN-500 Wireless
Base Station. I have no particular reason to do so, but it
seems like a good idea. Can somebody tell me where I can
download the actual files?

Thanks.

I would like to install it the old fashioned way, too.

Download the files from microsoft
(http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=6790)

Open the downloaded msbndownload.exe file with Winrar (or some other file
extractor that can read the sfx archive).

Unzip the dlf files (one corresponds to the MN500)

with the correct dlf file, you can manually upgrade the MN500.

Make sure you don't choose the wrong one (trying to update the MN500 with
the MN100 or MN700 bits will certainly lead to failure)

Thank you. Winzip wouldn't view internal files, so I used the command line
run C:\Folder\Folder\MsbnDownload.exe -d. Then I was able to point to the
correct file. My old firmware was from 2002.
