I am trying to connect a Sony PCG-SR11K running Debian Woody, with 2.4.21
kernel, to my Slackware box (2.4.20) I can bring the interface up on each
box with no problem, but neither can see the other.
I have:
Vaio: eth1:0 192.168.1.6, 255.255.255.0
Slack: eth1:0 192.168.1.5, 255.255.255.0
Both eth1's use firewire devices, with the eth1394, ochi1394 and ieee1394
modules. According to what I can find, it should "just work".
Trying to ping fails completely, on the Viao, ping gives me:
ping: sendto:Network is unreachable.
I have an identical problem using a pcmcia nic,
the difference being that it has led's, and they don't light. I think it
just has buggy hardware though.
Any suggestions what is going on here, anybody, please??? My eyes hurt
now and I need the network to update Debian to utilise the jog wheel.
