hello all.
i have a computer that is connected to the internet and i want to share that
internet connection with my laptop through firewire.
can anyone advise me on how to do this?

Yep...

Stick a PCI network card in the PC and a PCMCIA one in the laptop if
either don't have an RJ45 socket and get a crossover lead.

And yes, I'm aware this isn't firewire but it'll be a damned sight
easier to get working properly.

Well, using windows xp I've had no problem getting a firewire network up
and running, basically, you connect the computers, enable connection
sharing, and that's it

I assume it's the same for a usb-usb connection which may be cheaper,
but as they say..YMMV

Although I haven't used the Firewire port on my Audigy 2, Windows
recognises it as another network connection, it doesn't seem any
different from a standard ethernet connection. You have TCP/IP
properties etc. etc.

I don't dispute that but try it. It may work, it may not. My experience
is usually the latter but YMMV.
