1. If you don't have hardware firewall, it is better to enable 2003 firewall or NAT if it is possible.
2. You also should have anti-virus software.

I have a LAN containing ADSL SpeedTouch router, server with Windows Server
2003 and four machines running Win XP.
ADSL router is DHCP and it is connected to Internet with PPPoE.
I only need to have access on SQL server 2003 which is

I had enabled windows firewall on server's LAN connection and had added
port 1433(sql server's port) on exception list, but
is this enough? ADSL modem has no firewall. I have heard thet harware
firewall is not good protection.
ps. I have no service pack 1 installed.
