Firewall help needed

I'm currently running a laptop with kubuntu dapper, and am having trouble
performing certain tasks because of my firewall (guarddog). I cannot
connect to Live365 radio stations, nor can I receive or initiate DCC
connections through xchat. I tried firestarter at one point, but am
looking for something that doesn't require me to manually change interfaces
everytime I change locations. Does anyone know what I need to do to make
guarddog work the way I'd like, or, in the alternative, can anyone
recommend a better firewall?
