Hi,
I'm using Mandriva 2005 (fully updated) and was connected to the Internet by
an ADSL "modem" (Aztec ADSL 600E-connected to the PC via Ethernet, not USB)
-originally configured as a bridge. I had full Internet connectivity
(including Firefox and Pan) in that configuration when Mandriva ran a
Shoreall firewall (configured for PPPoE).
Recently, I set up a small network at home by:
a. Reconfiguring the above-mentioned "modem" as a router (+built-in
firewall and DHCP server)
b. Connecting an Edimax 8 port hub to the modified router,
c. Connecting the PC to one of the hub's ports
d. Modifying Shorewall to standard configuration.

The situation, after configuring the network, is as follows:
1. All 3 PC's on my net have Internet access (the other 2 are Windows...)
2. The Mandriva PC can surf the internet using Konqueror, Use KMail, and
post and read news using KNode. However:
a) I can't use Firefox any more (at the same time I surf with Konqueror to
the SAME sites)- almost all times I get a time out error. Sometime I get
through, but after a VERY VERY long delay
b) PAN won't connect at all to my ISP's newserver (same one KNODE connects
without problems).

Please advise !

TIA

Firefox may be trying to look up ipv6 addresses. Open about:config,
look for network.dns.disableIPv6, and if it is false, right-click it and
select "Toggle".
