Is there anyway to find where your telephone exchange is? I want to see how
far away we are from our exchange and see roughly if we can receive
broadband or not.

thanx in advance.

Use the BT line checker on their website - that¹s all that matters.

Length can be irrelevant - 100 meters of cr*p cable will rule you out,
however 7km of excellent cable will mean you're in.

Use the checker and that all that actually matters. If you're borderline,
the best thing to do is order it and then you'll actually find out for
certain !

The simplest way to see if you can get ADSL is just to put your phone number
into the checker BT's web site at http://www.bt.com/broadband/ and see what
it says.

Its not 100% accurate but will give you a better idea than trying to measure
the distance your property is from the exchange.

Sunil

yeah we're boarder line according to the checker, but we have ISDN so
there's a lot of hassle of converting to analogue and back again and if
we're too far we have to revert back to ISDN again, but I think your right
we should order it and see what happens.

Place your ADSL order as a "ISDN/HH conversion" order via an ISP which
offers the option.

That means BT will uninstall ISDN and install ADSL for you in "one process"
and means you won't have to bother worrying about converting the line to
analogue etc.

It costs £50 - if you can't get ADSL/fail the line test, BT will reinstall
ISDN for you and not charge you anything.

Regards
Sunil
