I am trying to help a friend get his email working and the ISP has supplied
his user name and password but he is not sure of his email address
How can I find out?

Ask the ISP that issued the username and password?

Whish ISP is it? Have a look on their website - there may be a 'getting
started' page or somesuch which explains how to configure email addresses.

Or tell us which ISP he uses and perhaps someone here will be able to help.

It is blueyonder.
I got him to write and ask and they supplied the user name and password. The
user name is simply an alph numeric name. This obviously works because I was
able to go on line on the Internet but his email which will have a different
user name and password is the problem.
Will they be able to tell him his email address and password? Or am I
confused?

Tell him to go to https://selfcare.blueyonder.co.uk and enter his username
and password, he can then register any alias that isn't already taken by
another user.

Thanks for your help. Your site was ideal for my friend to use although I
suspect he will want to wait until I visit him next and do it for him
Many thanks
