IS there a way other than nbtstat -A to determine a
machine's name based on it's IP address?

How about the logged in user?

Thanks

Ping -a may also work. Also if wins/dhcp/dns is used you can look in the
database/leases/zones for info. Network scanners can also enumerate computer
info for a single IP or a range of IP addresses. Try Superscan 4 or Newt and
you will see al the info you can get. --- Steve

Try the nslookup command.

It's perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.

Can nslookup help in this. I think the OP is looking
for reverse lookup which will only work with nslookup
if a DNS server is setup with reverse lookup zones installed.
