Where to find Corporate ISP Reviews

Hi all

Can anyone point me to a forum for Corporate ISP opinion please?
We are currently using Demon and although their admin is sh*te, we have had
minimal problems with uptime/mail delivery.
The accountant wants to switch to Kingston Communications, as we have a
leased line supplied by them and we would save the domain hosting/mail
forwarding fee currently paid to Demon.

Anyone got any thoughts or point me in the direction of useful knowledge
base please?

TIA

Phil

We have a Kingston 2mbps leased line at work. Basically they "quoted us
happy", tbh it was a bit of a leap of faith as I found it hard to find
anyone with a first hand opinion to share.

So far we've had pretty much zero problems, I think we had a couple of
hours outage last year which was annoying, but I figure these things can
happen with any ISP and if you can't justify redundant connections c'est
la vie.

We don't use them for any sort of hosting as we do it all in house, but
connectivity wise they seem fine.

cheers,
Paul

Thanks Paul

Yes we are using them for connectivity only.
I am looking for some feedback on their mail forwarding
performance/reliability.
I found the following site for ADSL:

http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isps/compare.asp

and was hoping for something similar in the corporate hosting arena.
Looking at the monthly stats from this site, there are not enough people
using KC to make the results representative in any case!

Don't Kingston only provide ISP services within their catchment area
i.e. Hull?

Yes, that is where the business is located!

Certainly they have a monopoly on hardware connection to telephone services.
This is why we are using their services for leased line connection.
With this they bundle "free" corporate web hosting and mail routing.
We currently use a paid service from Demon and, despite numerous horror
stories, their service seems solid even if their admin is cr*p.

It's the bean counters who would have me move the mail forwarding and web
hosting from Demon to KC in a cost cutting excercise.
So it's either "if it aint broke...." just pay the man mentality, or it's
leap of faith time and trust the move of your business's most valuable
commodity to the KC clowns? Right now this fence I'm sitting on is SO
comfy!

Hmm.. well we're near Coventry, and they were more than happy to cold
call for a leased line, at the time we needed it, at a stupidly low
price compared to everyone else we'd approached, and it comes in a
standard BT fiber bearer.

I totally misread your O.P so sorry for all the irrelevant opinions on
Kingston leased lines :-)

What sort of services are you talking about, and what sort of prices are
we talking?

I'm also thinking "pay the man" unless it's thousands of pounds, but if
it were that sort of money I'm also thinking could it be brought
in-house?

cheers,
Paul

Silly money for the leased line (which the bean counters are OK with!) - 10k
a year rings a bell!!!
Cost for domain hosting to be saved by moving to KC £720 pa.
