hi, everyone.

i'm trying to set up port forwarding for these ports for
final fantasy online:

50000-65535 TCP
50000-65535 UDP

since i can only set it for every 100 ports, does that
mean i have to set port forwarding up 300 times?

You can enter it in as a range. I believe what you need is Persistent
Port Forwarding. Which already has it configured with a column for
start range & one for end range. This would require 2 entries.

Application-Triggered Port Forwarding is only for when you send data on
one port & receive a response on a different port. Some examples of
that are SMTP, POP3, & FTP.

hi there. good looking out on your response.

i tried to do that, but i get this message:

"The port range cannot exceed 100 ports. Please enter a
smaller range."

i guess that means i have to type 50000-50100, 50101-
50200, etc... etc...

that will take forever! i wonder if they will fix it so i
can put in a greater port range, like maybe a 1000 or
something.

Why does it require so many ports to be open? I'm sorry but that is
ridiculous. I mean that's 31072 ports.

I'm running the MN-500 and it allows me to enter that into one range for
TCP & one for UDP. Which router are you using & what is the firmware
version?

i'm really not sure why they require that many ports
open. oh well.

anyway, i'm using the mn-700, and the firmware version is
02.00.08.0333.

They just released a firmware upgrade for the MN-700 the other day.

You can get it at the following address

MSBNDownload (This is the update package. It will update software
(including drivers) and firmware as needed)

http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...BNDownload.exe

(note that this URL is very long and might get truncated)

No idea on that one. I was hoping the firmware update would help with
that issue for you.

Another option is to get either the MN-100 or MN-500 and have that as
the main router while putting the MN-700 in bridging mode.

Here are the directions.

Broadband modem --> WAN port of MN-100, MN-500, or MN-700 #1
MN-100, MN-500, or MN-700 #1 LAN port #2 --> WAN port of MN-100, MN-500,
or MN-700 #2
MN-100, MN-500, or MN-700 #1 LAN port #3 --> WAN port of MN-100, MN-500,
or MN-700 #3 (if available)

Make sure all MN-100s & MN-500s are running the latest firmware 1.11.017

Make sure all MN-700s are running the latest firmware 2.01.02.0590

Now lets look at the setup of each MN-100, MN-500, or MN-700:

MN-100, MN-500, or MN-700 #1
router mode
LAN IP address at default of 192.168.2.1
some SSID (if wireless)
some WEP key (if wireless)
channel 6 (if wireless)

MN-100, MN-500, or MN-700 #2
bridge mode
LAN IP address at 192.168.2.42, outside of default DHCP range
same SSID (if wireless)
same WEP key (if wireless)
channel 1 (if wireless)

MN-100, MN-500, or MN-700 #3 (if available)
bridge mode
LAN IP address at 192.168.2.43, outside of default DHCP range
same SSID (if wireless)
same WEP key (if wireless)
channel 11 (if wireless)

If you keep the SSID and WEP key the same for all base stations, people
will be able to move between offices and get a connection.

You need to select non-overlapping channels for the base stations to
prevent interference.

Channels 1, 6, and 11 are the three non-overlapping channels.

There are more combinations if you only need two channels.

oh dear, that's going to be a lot of work. i would be
lying to you if i told you i understood those directions
perfectly. it's totally not your fault though... i'm just
not technical. ^^

i'll give it a try though. if it doesn't work out, i'll
just switch to the mn-500.

thanks for all of your help, joker.
