I've been setting up a wireless network at home and the internet connection
is being shared fine, but I've run into a problem with file sharing.

The setup is as follows:

PC1 is connected to the wireless adsl/router via Ethernet.
PC2 connects wirelessly to the router.

The problem is with the file sharing. PC1 is able to see and use the shared
files on PC2, but not vice versa. When I click-on "view workgroup
computers". The only entry is for PC2, and this is the case on both PCs.

If I type in "\\PC1", I get the error message:
"\\PC1 is not accessible. You might not have permission from admin.......
The server service is not started"

I'm a bit lost with this. Why exactly is there a problem? Why is PC1 not
visible or accessible, but PC2 is?! Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm using windows XP pro SP2 on both PCs, and the router is a linksys
WAG354g. Apologies if I've left out any other important info.

Cheers for the reply. Windows firewall was on, turned it off now. No change
unfortunately.
Thanks

Is the workgroup labled the same on each pc? You can get to that from
Control panel> System> Computer Name> Network ID

I had exactly the same problem!

If you are using Norton then go to the Firewall Configuration section, in
the trusted sites tab (mine says Home Networking now, I think it changed
when I added the wireless network) and run the wizard, it detects the
wireless network device and adds it to your trusted sites list. After a
reboot, my network sprung into life!

I had to do it on the notebook too!

Never used McAfee so can't help there, but there must be a similar option!

Hope this helps.
