The problem is the hub. Since each computer is going directly to your ISP
for an IP address, they're almost surely being assigned addresses that can't
see each other - and are fully exposed on the Internet to any passing
hacker, cracker or bad guy.
The solution is to get a router and hook both computers up to the router,
then to the cable modem.
