Im adding a Win98SE computer to my home network. When I go through the process of
installing File/ Printer Sharing on the Win98SE box through the Add/Remove
Windows programs/advanced/services, I get a popup that says that installation is
denied due to access permissions. How do I get past that? Did I do something I
have to undo?
Thanks.

try this...go to control panel > network and check the box that says
"enable file and printer sharing" (or something close..my memory may not be
exact :> )

when you reboot , go to your printer properties and you should see
"sharing..." now as an option....share the printer , then it is available
for another computer to add

That's what I tried to do. Except that F/P Sharing option button isn't there.
Which is why I want to install it as a Win98 service. When attempting to do
that, I get a popup that says I cant install that service due to permissions (or
something like that).

So I was wondering what I did to block that permission, or how to fix it or work
around it so I can install F/P Sharing.

when you were in control panel>network did you try to "add" a "service"
there and enable "file and printer sharing" ?

That's exactly what I tried. But when I selected "Microsoft>File and Printer
Sharing for Windows Networks", I got a popup saying that service can't be added
due to administrative permissions (or something like that). I need to find out
where I reset that permission, so I can add F/P Sharing.
