Hello all,
I have a interesting problem with my Dell Inspiron 5000. I have a Microsoft
MN-520 802.11b wireless card and I installed Fedora FC2 on the laptop. The
PCMCIA card installed as an Ethernet adaptor so I removed it and reinstalled
it as a wireless card as per instructions found online. I followed the
instructions to set it up as an "Ad hoc" connection. I added my WEP
settings and it connected to my access point just fine. I was able to get
on webpages just fine.
The problem occurs when I reboot. when fedora is booting it cannot start
the eth0 interface. It says it does not exist. When it boots up its says
its not activated and when I activate it, it again says its not found. I
can remove it, save the settings, restart networking and when I add the card
again, it does not list my card, only "other wireless." if I reboot and add
the card, the settings, and use it, the interface works fine. What would
cause my settings to be lost after a reboot and how can I save them?
thanks!
-Matt
