Hi all,
We have recently built a fedora core 2 on IBM xseries 206 server running
qmail mail server and apache 2.0 and mysql only. However, the server
intermittenly hang and freeze, and only by turning off and on the physical
device can solve the problem. Our technical support has been isolating the
problem by replacing the mainboard and lately the raid controller, but the
server still hang it self. When hang, the monitor shows nothing.
Strangely, we subsequently find in the server log /var/log/messages that the
server is starting up itself this morning (although not yet found to be each
morning). We have checked the log and found no pertinent error message. We
have a suspect that fedora core 2 is not yet a stable platform for this IBM
xseries 206 as they dont provide support as on this at the moment yet. We
wish to downgrade to redhat 9.0, anyone has done that without reinstalling?
Appreciate any information or advice. With that, thank you.
From Jemy

Hi Benjamin,
Thanks for putting some light to my prob, where can i find the noapic option
upon booting the kernel? should i need to recompile the kernel?
Currently in the linux loader we have two options, one has 'fedora...smp'
and one without, what are the differences? which should be the one to
choose?
Thanks again from Jemy
