Hello,
I recently upgraded my laptop from RH9 to FC3 kernel 2.6.9-1.667. The
upgrade went well except now I am unable to get ndiswrapper to work
with my Linksys WPC54G card. I have both a V2 card and a V4 card.
Previously, in RH9, I used the V2 card with ndiswrapper-0.10 with no
troubles. Then my card died and I was issued a new one by Linksys, but
it was V4. This firmware no longer worked with the wireless tools, so
I was unable to configure encryption. I then upgraded to FC3, and
still no luck with the V4 card. Therefore, I went and bought a V2 card
thinking that it once worked, and still should, but it didn't.
I've tried ndiswrapper-0.11 - 1.1 along with the drivers from the
ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net Installation page as well as the drivers
from the linksys disks. The issue is when I do a 'modprobe
ndiswrapper' it causes a kernel panic no matter what ndisversion
version I use or card version.
I'm using the LSTINDS.INF Windows driver from the suggestion off of the
ndiswrapper installation site and my card PCI ID is 104C:9066 from the
'lscpi -n' command.
Also, now I get this cardmgr error when I restart the pcmcia service
and I'm not sure if it is contributing to the problem:
Shutting down PCMCIA services: ERROR: Module pcmcia_core is in use by
yenta_socket
done.
Starting PCMCIA services: cardmgr[15299]: open_sock(socket 2) failed:
Bad file descriptor
cardmgr[15299]: watching 2 sockets
done.
I've searched throughout the groups for help, but haven't found a
relevant problem with a solution that works.
Has anyone had success with FC3 working with ndiswrapper and Linksys?
I'm out of option besides buying yet another card of a different brand.
Thanks in advance.
