Folks,
I am trying to set up Fedora Core 6 on a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop.
It is a dual boot system with XP Pro and FC6.
After a fresh install, the Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller
(this is what XP calls it) will not activate. This is a wired
controller.
If I go into /Administration/Networking, it identifies eth0 as a
Broadcom Corporation BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX
controller. On the hardware tab, it shows the controller with status
of ok. However, on the first tab it says that the controller is not
activated. When I try to activate it, I get the following error:
Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A)
Set failed for device eth0; No such device
Anybody have any suggestions? Usually, I have never had any problem
with Fedora/Redhat recognizing and configuring properly a wired network
controller. But I guess there is always a first...
What puzzles me it that I looked on the web, and this controller has
been around for a few years, so I would think the Fedora drivers would
be stable for this controller.
I guess for right now I will try to get my wireless working. But my
experience has been that is never easy as well.
Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.
