Fatal exception OE

I am attempting to install the software for Belkin wireless notebook network card. My main computer with the router is up and running. One of the other notebooks is also working fine. My Gateway 2000, model solo 9100 is giving me a hard time, it's operating system is Windows 98 SE...I have already updated all crtical packs. When I put the software disk in (this is both the orginal and the downloaded driver for Windows 98 SE) it receives the software fine when it requests you now insert the card it goes to about 50% then the screen goes all blue with a message

A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:0000000

Any help available..I know the card slot is O
