Fatal Exception 0E 0197:BFF9DFFF

Starting 2 weeks ago when I log onto my machine with
microsoft networking I get the error above and have to
reboot.

If I cancel the loging I can still get to the internet and
use my DSL but can not communicate with other machines on
my network.

What can be causing this and how do I fix it?

I am using Windows 98 SE
