I have a local network with 2 gataway.
One (192.168.2.254) is a HDSL that is used primary for a vpn with an other
office, but can also navigate to internet, with a cisco 1700 (that also make
vpn)

The other 192,.168.2.253 is a flat adsl used to intenet browsing (because if
flat).
Actualy 192.168.2.254 is the network default gataway and on this router
there is a simple rule that redirect all internet traffic to the other
router.

What I'd like to do is a failover, so if the ADSL does not work the traffic
should go to the hdsl router, and for this I should remove the static rule
from that router and use windows server as router and default gataway.

My problem is that adsl router does not have any protocol to notify when is
down so I should be able to understand this with ping or other methods.

Any suggestion??
Thanks.
Alessandro

Hello Alex,

Think that will not be possible in your case, because a client always can
have only one DG. But you can look for a Daul port router, which is capable
to combine to WAN/Internet ports (also with different speed) to one DG internal.
On this routers you can configure each incoming line for different needs
or protocols.
