Hi I'm having a bit of trouble with my Linksys WPC11 laptop wireless card.
It was working fine a couple of weeks ago but after my son used it one night
over the weekend I haven't gotten it work since. I am running win98SE on
the laptop, My other PC running a wireless USB card is working fine so I
know it's not my router. I reinstalled the software and hardware (first the
software and then the hardware). But after setting up my profile and asking
me if I would like to activate new settings, I get an error message saying
that " Failed to change device configuration. and will not display my on
even the default profile in Site Survey Tab. I'm ready to rip the little
bit of hair I have from my head. Could anyone help Please!

Hairless John

Every Win98 laptop I ever had tended to create "phantom" devices which could
slow everything down to a crawl. Based on that experience, here is what I
would try...

Remove your card from the laptop, then uninstall the software & drivers.
After that is done, boot into Safe Mode. Once there, open Device Manager
and tell it to show hidden devices. Check your network adapters to see if
there are any stray WPC11's hanging around. If so, delete them all.

Once they're all gone, power off and then re-boot the laptop. Re-install
the drivers & software, following Linksys' instructions, to the letter.

Hope this helps,
Bob
