After upgrade to windows server 2003 i can not access the shared folder via
other alias name. the Scenario :

i have one server 2000 with name HOST1 and ip 10.10.10.10 and i create an
alias name HOST to point to 10.10.10.10 ... it works fine
after upgrade i can not access the shared using HOST , i should access using
HOST1 ... i have many application depend to access using HOST !!!

what shall i do ???

It shouldn't work by default on any Windows Server. To get SMB access via a
cname working you need to disable strict name checking on the lanmanserver
service.

See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281308

Cheers,
Jeremy.

But then I ran across this:

But I am sure I have got this working on WS03SP1 before.

The changes need to be made on the server that you are trying to access via
the alias.
