Have lost the manual for the DG834 router and looking on Netgear's website
doesn't tell you how to do a factory reset.

Does anyone know how to do this, and what the default username/password
would be.

I only have the 824, but the factory reset is a little hole on the back,
that you have to insert a paperclip or similar into for several seconds.

The default user/password is likely admin/password.

You can download the manual there.

Or you can use this, from Section 7:
To restore the factory default configuration settings without knowing
the administration password
or IP address, you must use the Default Reset button on the rear panel
of the router.
1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on
(about 10 seconds).
2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.

Same for the DG814, small hole at the back. Isn't there a label on the
underside showing the connectors and the reset.
Username & password should be
admin & password
