Extremely weird problem! Interaction between MN-150 and MN-500??

I have Charter Cable service with the following network
topology.
---> XBOX
/
---> MN-150
/ \---> MP3 Receiver
Cable Modem ---> MN-500
| \ \
| \ \
| PC1 PC2 (both wired)
|
(2) wireless
laptops

I just introduced the MN-150 into this equation. I just
got XBox live and needed to split the cable running into
the living room.

Before I hooked up the MN-150, my MP3 Receiver (which uses
NETBIOS along with a username and password to play mp3s
from a share on PC1) worked fine.

Now, however, I can't ping the MP3 Receiver from PC1, even
though the MP3 Receiver has an IP address (it can still
play Internet radio stations). To make things even more
confusing, I can ping the the MP3 Receiver from the
laptops (which are connected wirelessly). I can also hit
the MP3 Receiver's internal web page using the laptops, so
the connectivity is obviously there.

If I plug in the MP3 receiver by bypassing the MN-150
switch, everything works fine again. Well except my for
my lower back as I perform calisthentics to manually
switch my network cable between the XBOX and the
receiver. Ergo the purchase of a so called "switch".

I'm tempted to throw in the towel and assume I got a bad
switch, but the MP3 receiver is streaming off the Internet
and the XBox works fine.

Is there some subtle interaction going on that I am
unaware of? Do I need to configure the MN-500 to allow
NETBIOS traffic to travel through the switch?

Help.

Bad port on the switch? Tried all ports? Tried different cables?

Yeah.. I've thought about that.. but the Audiotron and the
XBox can both hit the Internet with no problems.. and the
laptop can talk to them.

Very strange behavior.
