For all you know, you could have a Trojan or virus that has infected the
network/machines and is slowing things down. You could have some kind of
outside interference that could be happening too. And if you're letting
the equipment take electrical spikes, because you're not using a UPS and
have equipment like the router, modem etc. connected to it being
protected and getting clean power, you're asking for trouble IMHO.
