Extremely slow network performance when copying data from DC

Hi there-

I have a rather big problem with the internal Windows networking. Currently
when I transfer big fat file from my Windows 2000 Std. Server DC to Windows
2003 Std. Server, the network utilization stays just below 10% (100mbps). If
I copy the big fat file from Windows 2003 to the Windows 2000, then it
sticks around 70-75%.

But if I use FTP, from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003, then it usually ends up
95-99% utilization.

What could be the cause of this problem?

This problem occurs because server message block (SMB) write operations to a
Windows 2000-based domain controller may experience a delay of up to 200
milliseconds between file copies.

It's a long shot from what I read, since it mainly revovles around small files,
and the smallest value I can set, is 100 ms.

But I'll give it a shot, thanks.

It didn't budge in any way, still only ~10% utilization. I've tried disabling
NetBIOS over TCP/IP on the interface, yet a network trace on the packets, still
shows active NBT protocol usage!

Secondly using the trace output I tried filtering on 0xA0 (NT transact) as SMB
command, yet nothing appears in the log!

What do to next I wonder?
