Will external HD interfere with router?

I have two external drives (one Iomega that connects to the router by
ethernet and one FireWire cabled to the PC itself), a cable modem, and a
Linksys BEFSR41 Router stacked up one on top of the other. It seems to
me that instances of the router "freezing up" and requiring a reset
happen much less often when the external HDs are powered down. Does that
make sense? Should I separate the HDs from the other two? Thanks.
