With one external antenna and one standard antenna, each seeing some
signal, diversity will toggle between the two, giving poor results, and no
benefit from the external antenna. It will not always use the "best"
antenna.
With one external, and one disconnected, the antenna port without
signal will not be used as frequently, and it will appear that the good
antenna is always in use.
