Does anyone know of an 802.11a notebook card that has an external
antenna connector? I have found several 802.11b notebook cards that
have this option but none for an 802.11a. If you know of one, please
provide model, manufacturer and URL.

Well hey, let's shut down all the newsgroups and just all use Goolge from
now on! ;-)

Here's a link to a site that seems to have a pretty good inventory of "a"
card. Not sure what type of external antenna you mean, but this is a start.

And you could look at all of them and not get what you want. In
general, consumer 802.11a devices cannot have external (replaceable)
antennas.

I think its the same with 802.11b (and perhaps g) AP cards, you have to
get a USB AP just to get a proper aerial.

Ummm....

Perhaps you should read what I said...

Clue 1: Which PCMIA adapter comes with a proper aerial.
Clue 2: Name a USB adapter that comes with a proper aerial.

I'm afraid all wireless devices seem to have a "proper aerial."
