I have a question for the newsgroup!

I'm planning on buying a wi-fi card tomorrow but would like to plug in an
external yagi aerial to pick more siganls.

Do all the wi-fi cards come with a socket to plug in an external aerial or
do I need to purchase another box etc?

Many thanks if anyone can assist here.

Brian Kemp.

Entity Brian Kemp spoke thus:

> Do all the wi-fi cards come with a socket to plug in an external aerial

I have used an older Lucent WaveLAN Silver PC card, it has a standard MC
socket in it that I plugged my 12db gain Yagi right into.

SMC sells an 802.11b PCMCIA card which the end will come off and you can
attach their antenna. Check their site. Regards

Orinoco Gold PC Card has an aerial connector, as does Dell Truemobile 1150
(which is rebadged Orinoco).
However, depending on what use you have in mind, you may want to consider
Orinoco USB adapter which is easy to put in the right position / direction
and works out cheaper.
Regards,
Martin
